Chim is an innovative musical instrument that originates from the study of 3D shapes.
The ideation process involved a creative challenge of combining arbitrarily shaped forms from a random collection of discarded materials, aiming to create playful 3D shapes. This approach led to the distinctive design of Chim. Ultimately, these random forms were refined and defined as a musical instrument.
As a percussion instrument, Chim is composed of a wooden structure, complemented by metal striking elements. It utilises fishing lines to connect these parts, ensuring the transmission of vibrations. This unique design not only showcases the potential of recycling but also introduces a new auditory experience through its unconventional structure and materials.
