ECOMATO
City Saucary Solution
Ecomato is a sustainable system for City Saucery.
It encourages people to save the environment by recycling the jars.
It also redesigned the packaging to advertise for the eco-friendly "Ugly Tomato".
Team members: Qi Ren, Yi Wang, Peixuan Li

Description
Ecomato jar is a jar design for renewing the take back system for City Saucery Company.
For sustainable purpose, City Saucery uses “ugly” tomatoes that are super tasty but are not able to be sold directly form farms as their major ingredients. They recycle the jars from their customers and bring them back to their producing system.
However, there are only 10% of jars being recycled.
Redesigning the lid and using an easier and reusable vacuum system instead of hot seal will help the factory to seal the jars outside of the factory, so that it will save the process for recycling the jars. Customers can simply bring their jars back to the farmer’s market and refill them at any time. They will get discount to encourage them to refill the jars. The attractive looking jar matches the company’s message of promoting ugly tomatoes, so it will also attract more people to keep the jar and reuse it, so the cycle will be more sustainable.
