Fall 2019-Spring 2020
This project was created in collaboration with the Brooklyn Museum in New York, as part of their educational initiatives. The Egyptian exhibit is one of the museum’s most significant displays. Drawing inspiration from the Egyptian neck pillow found in the exhibit, the objective was to enable contemporary individuals to experience the ancient pillows while seamlessly integrating them into their modern routines.
Initially thought to be uncomfortable because of its wooden construction, the remade neck pillow surprisingly proved to be very comfortable.
The new design includes a smartphone holder, contrasting the ancient with the modern where people often use their phones while reclining. Additionally, recognizing today’s trend of sharing museum experiences on social media, this holder enables visitors to take photos with the pillow, thereby increasing interactivity and encouraging the sharing of the exhibit.
Exhibition was canceled due to Covid-19.
